The Elgeyo Marakwet County Government has invited applications from students seeking to pursue diploma, degree and master’s programmes in Australia and Germany under the Pepea Programme, which offers partial scholarships.
In a notice issued by the county, students applying for the March/April intake in Australia must have a valid passport and a minimum KCSE mean grade of C plain for undergraduate courses. Applicants are also required to have an IELTS overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band below 6.0, as required by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
For diploma and degree programmes, applicants must be aged 24 years and below, while those applying for master’s programmes should be 34 years and below. Under the programme, Torrens University is offering a 50 per cent scholarship, while BPP Institute is providing a 40 per cent scholarship.
“The county government has guaranteed the first-year tuition fees,” the notice reads.
Parents or guardians will be required to guarantee second-year tuition fees and provide proof of pocket money and living expenses amounting to AUD 52,110. Applicants must submit a three-month bank statement, and two people may combine their statements. These can include parents, grandparents, uncles or aunts, siblings, or spouses.
For students interested in the April intake in Germany, requirements include a valid passport, a curriculum vitae (CV), and a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ for undergraduate programmes. No German language qualification is required, although applicants will undergo an online interview conducted by the institution to assess their English proficiency. There is no age limit for the Germany programme, and successful applicants will receive a 40 per cent scholarship.

Applicants will also be required to show proof of a blocked amount of 12,000 euros in their bank account for 28 days, to cater for living expenses while in Germany.
