J Balvin has made it clear that fans should not expect to see him join Bad Bunny on stage during next month’s Super Bowl halftime show, despite the pair recently mending their long-strained relationship.
The Colombian superstar addressed the speculation in an interview with TMZ, confirming that while he and Bad Bunny are back on good terms, a surprise halftime reunion is not in the cards. Balvin explained that rebuilding their friendship “took time,” but said he now finds it “beautiful” that they have reconnected as “grown men.”
When asked directly if he would appear as a special guest during the halftime performance, Balvin shut down the idea without hesitation. “Oh no, that’s… I just wish my boy to kill it, and destroy it,” he said. “I want him to take over the whole Super Bowl and show the world what Latinos are made of. But I’ll be there, definitely, to support him.”
Balvin also weighed in on the criticism Bad Bunny has faced since being announced as the Super Bowl halftime headliner, noting that such backlash is nothing new for Latino artists. “I think it’s normal, but we’re gonna prove them wrong and prove them we have so much talent,” he said. “We as a culture are taking over the world. Bad Bunny is one of the biggest superstars.”
The two hitmakers previously collaborated on the 2019 joint album OASIS, but later drifted apart following Balvin’s public feud with Puerto Rican rapper Residente. That long-running tension was recently resolved, paving the way for Balvin and Bad Bunny to reunite on stage for the first time in nearly four years.
Their surprise reunion took place in Mexico City last month, where they thrilled fans by performing collaborative hits including “La Canción,” “Qué Pretendes,” and “Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola,” signaling a renewed sense of unity between two of Latin music’s biggest global forces.
