Prince William and Kate Middleton have strengthened their Kensington Palace team with the addition of a new senior communications professional.
Liza Ravenscroft has joined the Prince and Princess of Wales’ press and public relations office after leaving global public relations firm Edelman. Her appointment has attracted attention due to her strong background in strategic communications and crisis management.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Ravenscroft previously led a UK team managing more than £2 million worth of business each year, advising high-profile clients across what she described as a “complex landscape of risks and live crises.” Her experience has been seen by some observers as particularly valuable at a time when the royal family continues to face public scrutiny, including ongoing controversy involving Prince Andrew.
Edelman’s UK operation is led by Julian Payne, a former palace communications chief who previously served as King Charles’ head of media. The Mail on Sunday, which first reported Ravenscroft’s move, suggested Payne may have supported her transition to Kensington Palace. A source told the newspaper on January 11 that it was “unlikely to be a coincidence” that one of Edelman’s senior figures joined William and Kate’s office during a period of royal turbulence.
However, sources close to the palace have clarified that Ravenscroft’s role is not focused on crisis management. Instead, she will work on day-to-day press operations and media relations, handling regular engagement with international and domestic news organisations.
The Prince and Princess of Wales continue to rely on a team of long-serving staff members, although there have been recent changes within their household. In July 2025, Natasha Archer, a key member of Kate’s inner circle, left her role after 15 years of service to start her own private consultancy. Archer joined the household in 2010 as a personal assistant to both William and Kate and later became widely known as Kate’s unofficial stylist. She most recently served as senior private executive assistant to the couple.
At the start of the year, the royal couple also celebrated the loyalty of their longtime nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo. She was awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) by King Charles in the New Year’s Honours List, recognising her 12 years of service to the family. Borrallo, who is Spanish, trained at the prestigious Norland College in Bath before joining William and Kate shortly before the birth of Prince George.
