Former teen actor Matt Prokop, best known for his role in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, has reportedly been arrested in Texas and is currently being held without bail while facing multiple serious charges, including alleged possession of child pornography.
According to TMZ, the 35-year-old actor was taken into custody on December 24, 2025, in Victoria County, Texas. Local law enforcement officials confirmed that Prokop remains detained at the county jail as investigations continue.
Authorities say Prokop is facing several charges, including alleged possession of child pornography, resisting arrest, and two counts of resisting arrest, search, or transportation. Details surrounding the alleged offenses have not yet been fully disclosed by police.
Local outlet Crossroads Today reported that the arrest stems from an alleged violation of bond conditions related to a previous arrest in May 2024. In that earlier case, Prokop was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
At this stage, it remains unclear when Prokop is expected to appear in court. He did not immediately respond to requests for comment from U.S. entertainment outlets.
The arrest has renewed scrutiny of Prokop’s troubled past, particularly allegations made by his former girlfriend, actress Sarah Hyland, best known for her role on Modern Family. Hyland previously accused Prokop of verbal and physical abuse during their five-year relationship.
In court filings from 2014, Hyland alleged that Prokop slammed her into a vehicle and choked her during an argument. Following their breakup, she further claimed that he threatened to kill her dog and burn down her house.

Hyland later obtained a restraining order against Prokop, which required him to stay away from her for three years. Prokop did not publicly contest the restraining order at the time.
Once considered a rising teen star, Prokop appeared in High School Musical 3 alongside Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and made a guest appearance on Modern Family. His film credits also include Furry Vengeance (2010), Cougar Hunting (2011), and Struck by Lightning (2012). His acting career largely stalled in the years following the abuse allegations.
Authorities emphasize that all charges remain allegations until proven in court.
