Princess Kate is feeling the love on her birthday.
On Friday, January 9, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, celebrated her 44th birthday, receiving warm public messages from across the globe, including heartfelt tributes from senior members of the British royal family.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla led the celebrations with a message shared on the official Royal Family Instagram account. “Wishing a Happy Birthday to The Princess of Wales,” they wrote, alongside a photo of Kate smiling and a birthday cake emoji.
The royal birthday tribute came as Princess Kate marked the day in a personal and reflective way. She shared a short video on Instagram focused on healing and renewal through nature. Titled “Winter,” the film is the fourth and final installment of her quarterly Mother Nature video series, which she launched in 2025.
In the serene clip, Kate is seen walking across a bridge, dipping her hand into a flowing stream and standing quietly in a frost-covered field. A soft voiceover accompanies the visuals, as the princess speaks about her own journey of healing, offering a rare glimpse into her inner world.
The birthday also followed a return to royal duties for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Just one day earlier, William and Kate made their first official appearance of 2026, visiting Charing Cross Hospital in London. During the visit, the couple thanked staff and volunteers for their dedication, particularly during the demanding winter period.
Kate and Prince William are parents to three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. The family was last seen together publicly on Christmas Day, attending the traditional royal church service at Sandringham.
Adding a lighter note to the celebrations, former royal butler Grant Harrold recently shared insights into how the royal family marks birthdays. Speaking to Heart Bingo, Harrold revealed that royal gifts are often playful.
“You might get something a little bit silly because the royals like to give silly presents,” he said, though he hinted there could also be something more glamorous.
According to Harrold, Prince William’s gift for Kate could range from a meaningful piece of jewellery to something practical for the home — or a thoughtful mix of both.
