Fried Chicken Tops Kenyans’ Cravings in 2025 – Report

Fried chicken has emerged as the most popular food among Kenyans in 2025, according to a new report by Uber Eats. The 2025 Kenya Cravings Report highlights the foods, habits, and unusual orders that defined the way people ate across the country this year.

The report shows that Kenyans are specific about their orders, from fried chicken fans who know exactly what they want from the menu, to customers making detailed special requests, such as one who said “NO CHEESE” 24 times in a single order.

“Chicken reigns unchallenged as Kenya’s unofficial national craving,” the report notes. “It was the most searched item on Uber Eats, with tens of thousands of searches, and the busiest single store served over 100 meals a day.”

Pizza held the second spot, popular for movie nights, post-exam celebrations, and late-night snacks. The report also highlighted the rise in grocery delivery, with customers relying on the service for essentials such as cooking oil, tomatoes, and last-minute spaghetti ingredients. One customer reportedly had a 5-litre bottle of cooking oil delivered in just 150 seconds.

Uber Eats also recorded some extravagant orders in 2025. One customer placed a premium drinks order worth Sh109,000, while another spent Sh102,134 on nearly 20 burgers and sides. A romantic order, dubbed the “Lover’s Marathon,” cost Sh80,400.

The report also tracked the country’s most active users. One customer placed 718 orders throughout the year, averaging nearly two per day. Another user spent over Sh1.8 million on fewer but higher-value orders.

Uber Eats couriers also played a big role in keeping the country fed. One courier rode 54,961 kilometres in a year, equivalent to more than the distance around the Earth. Another completed 6,866 trips, while the fastest delivery of the year took just 147 seconds.
