Media personality and digital strategist Willis Raburu has gone to court through his company, Steizon Limited, over an alleged Sh10 million debt linked to the December 2024 Furaha City Festival.
In court papers filed under a certificate of urgency, Steizon Limited wants East African Breweries PLC (EABL) and Game Changer Marketing Limited ordered to pay for services it says were provided during the festival held on December 7, 2024.
Through lawyer Danstan Omari, the company has also asked the court to suspend or cancel EABL’s operating licence until the money is paid.
According to court documents, Steizon Limited says it was hired by Game Changer Marketing, which it claims was acting on behalf of EABL, to handle digital promotion, branding, influencer engagement, logistics and overall event coordination.
Raburu said that although the contract was not physically signed by Game Changer Marketing, it was still valid based on normal industry practice and how both sides conducted themselves.
He told the court that his team produced more than 60 social media videos, over 100 static posts and reached more than one million online users. He also said Steizon coordinated the full event, including influencers, media teams, security and other staff.
Despite completing all the agreed work, Raburu said neither Game Changer Marketing nor EABL has paid any money.
He added that EABL later asked him to prepare a detailed performance report before payment could be processed, but after submitting it, he was referred to another company, Brisk Marketing, which has not responded.
Steizon Limited said the delay in payment has caused serious financial problems, damaged its reputation and led to pressure from suppliers who are demanding their money.
The company is asking the court to order EABL and Game Changer Marketing to jointly pay the Sh10 million plus interest. It also wants EABL ordered to deposit Sh10 million in court as security while the case is heard.
In addition, Steizon wants the court to declare that Game Changer Marketing was acting with EABL’s authority and that the unsigned contract is still legally binding.
Lawyer Danstan Omari said the case is urgent because the courts are about to break for recess and the continued delay could cause further financial harm to his client.
