Jen Shah, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has been released from federal prison after serving nearly three years behind bars.
U.S. prison officials confirmed that Shah was released from the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, in the early hours of Wednesday. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons said Shah has been transferred to community confinement under the supervision of the bureau’s Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office.
Community confinement means the inmate is either placed under home confinement or housed in a Residential Reentry Center, commonly known as a halfway house. Authorities did not disclose Shah’s exact location, citing privacy, safety, and security concerns.
Shah, 52, will remain under post-release supervision for five years. As part of the conditions, she will undergo regular drug and alcohol testing, participate in an outpatient mental health program, and continue taking prescribed medication, according to U.S. media reports.

Her representative previously described the early release as a moment Shah considers a “gift,” saying it allows her to reunite with her family during the holidays. The spokesperson added that Shah is in a positive and hopeful mental state after using her time in custody for reflection and personal growth.
“She understands the seriousness of her past actions and is focused on rebuilding her life,” the representative said, noting that her priority is her family and living in a healthier, more grounded way.
Shah has been in federal custody since February 17, 2023, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme that targeted vulnerable victims.
She was arrested in March 2021 and initially pleaded not guilty to charges of wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy. However, she changed her plea in July 2022. In January 2023, a judge sentenced her to six and a half years in prison and ordered her to forfeit $6.5 million and pay restitution to victims, which remains outstanding.
