Beyoncé is making her long-awaited return to the Met Gala — and this time, she will be one of its leaders.
Organizers have announced that the global superstar will serve as a co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala, marking her first appearance at fashion’s biggest night in nearly ten years. She will join longtime Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, alongside fellow co-chairs Nicole Kidman and tennis legend Venus Williams.
The annual fundraising event for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute will take place on the first Monday of May. This year’s exhibition, titled “Costume Art,” was revealed in November and will debut in the Costume Institute’s newly established permanent galleries.

The exhibition is expected to explore the role of clothing as art, with a focus on the “centrality of the dressed body” within the museum’s extensive collection.
“It’s a huge moment for the Costume Institute,” curator Andrew Bolton told Vogue. “It will be transformative for our department, but I also think it’s going to be transformative to fashion more generally — the fact that an art museum like The Met is actually giving a central location to fashion.”
Beyoncé was last seen on the Met’s iconic steps in 2016 during the Manus x Machina-themed gala. Her return as co-chair underscores her status as one of fashion’s most influential figures, with each of her appearances often setting trends and dominating headlines.
Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams, meanwhile, have been frequent attendees over the years. At the 2024 Met Gala, Kidman paid tribute to fashion history by wearing a re-creation of a 1952 Balenciaga gown, while Williams honored her athletic roots with a couture interpretation of courtside style designed by Lacoste.
Known for their ability to merge fashion, identity and cultural influence, all three co-chairs embody this year’s exhibition theme. Whether on stage, screen or court, they have consistently used style to celebrate the body and champion designers around the world.
With their leadership, anticipation is high that the 2025 Met Gala will be one of the most memorable editions in recent years — both on the red carpet and inside the museum.
