As she reflects on a blockbuster year both professionally and personally, Pamela Anderson is openly addressing her relationship with Liam Neeson, her co-star in the summer box office hit The Naked Gun.
After months of public speculation surrounding their unexpected romance, Anderson, 58, has confirmed for the first time that she and Neeson were indeed romantically involved. In this week’s cover story with PEOPLE, the actress offers a candid account of what she describes as a brief but genuine relationship that unfolded after filming wrapped.
“If you must know, Liam and I were romantically involved for a short while but only after we finished filming,” Anderson said. She revealed that the pair spent what she called an “intimate week” together at Neeson’s home in upstate New York.
While emphasizing that their time together remained respectful, Anderson made it clear the connection was real. “I had my own room,” she noted. “Our assistants both came; even family stopped by.”
During that time, the pair dined at a small French restaurant where Anderson says Neeson introduced her as the “future Mrs. Neeson.” They also shared quiet moments at his home, tending to his garden together. “I tended to a rosebush overgrown with mint … I was happy to help, and he appreciated,” she said.
Anderson referred to the experience as their “romantic lost week,” recalling a moment when Neeson famously chased away a bear that appeared outside the breakfast window — all while wearing his bathrobe.
Following the week, the two went their separate ways to continue working on other projects. “We went our separate ways to work on other films,” she explained.
They later reunited while promoting The Naked Gun over the summer, where their affection was on full display. The duo were seen cuddling, holding hands, and appearing playful during public appearances. During one standout moment on Watch What Happens Live, Anderson even swiped Neeson’s lips with her Sonsie lip balm.
“We were having fun,” Anderson said, likening their dynamic to something out of a romantic film. She added, “It was a little bit like a Nancy Meyers movie.”
Addressing skeptics who dismissed their relationship as a publicity stunt, Anderson was unequivocal. “I always was laughing when people thought, ‘Oh, that’s a publicity stunt.’ I’m like, ‘A publicity stunt? This is real. We have real feelings.’”
Despite the genuine nature of their romance, Anderson acknowledged that it ultimately evolved into something else. “I adore Liam,” she said, “but we are better friends, in full honesty.”
The pair last saw each other in August when Neeson surprised Anderson by attending her performance at the prestigious Williamstown Theatre Festival, where she was starring in Tennessee Williams’ Casino Real.
“He is such a supporter of this new trajectory in my career and kindly tells me he is very proud of me,” Anderson said. “I’m sure we will always be in each other’s lives.”
