Cher, the legendary “Believe” singer, may be ready to walk down the aisle again, nearly 50 years after the end of her second marriage.
Reports have surfaced claiming that the pop icon is set to marry her boyfriend, music executive Alexander “AE” Edwards, ahead of her 80th birthday in May.
According to an insider cited by the Mirror, “Cher doesn’t give a hoot about their [40-year] age difference and they’re both ready to commit to each other.” However, Cher’s representative told Page Six that the report is “not true.”
The 77-year-old singer has never been one to shy away from public scrutiny. During a November appearance on CBS Mornings, she brushed off criticism over the 39-year age gap between her and Edwards. “Whatever,” she told interviewer Gayle King. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
Cher also revealed that age hasn’t been an issue for Edwards, who reportedly tells her, “You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger.” Speaking about their three-year romance, the singer gushed, “I just love him. I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
The couple was first linked romantically in November 2022 when they were spotted holding hands in Los Angeles. Cher made their relationship official shortly after via social media, responding to fans and critics alike in a blunt online Q&A: “Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A [flying] FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS. I’m Not Defending Us. Haters are Gonna Hate…Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.”
Cher and Edwards later made a red carpet debut at the Versace Fall 2023 fashion show, sharing a PDA-filled entrance that cemented their public status as a couple.
Before Edwards, Cher’s love life has been as high-profile as her career. She was married to Sonny Bono from 1964 to 1975 and to Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979. She has also famously dated celebrities including Val Kilmer, Gene Simmons, and Tom Cruise.
