Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Jr. Cosby, 23, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault and violating a protection order, following a series of incidents involving his wife and father-in-law. The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star’s son entered his pleas on Tuesday in Salt Lake County District Court in Salt Lake City, Utah.
According to court documents obtained by People, the charges stem from incidents involving his estranged wife, Alexiana Smokoff — who filed for divorce last month — and her father, Shad Stoke. Robert Jr. pleaded guilty to eight charges, including one count of felony property damage or destruction of $5,000 or more, two counts of violating a pretrial protective order obtained by Smokoff, one count of assault on a peace officer, one count of violating a jail release order, two counts of criminal trespass on a dwelling with intent to cause annoyance, injury, or fear, and one count of Class B misdemeanor assault. Six other misdemeanor charges were dismissed with prejudice.

Robert Jr. will remain in Salt Lake County Metro Jail until his sentencing, scheduled for February 3, 2026.
His attorney told People that Robert Jr. had struggled to accept the end of his marriage but has since taken responsibility for his actions. “His parents were his example, and they’ve been married for 27 years,” the attorney said, referring to Mary’s marriage to Robert Sr., who serves as a bishop at the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. “Robert was slow to recognize and accept his marriage was over and continued to connect with his soon-to-be ex-wife. He has accepted responsibility for his mistakes and pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors.”
Robert Jr. was arrested on November 9 and faced charges including violation of a pretrial protective order, criminal trespassing, property damage, assault on a peace officer, and failure to stop at law enforcement commands. He was previously arrested in September after allegedly attempting to climb through a dog door to enter his father-in-law’s home and assaulting someone on the front lawn while refusing to comply with responding officers.
Smokoff filed for divorce from Robert Jr. on November 24, ending their three-year marriage.
The reality star has previously opened up about struggling with substance abuse. In a November 2024 episode of RHOSLC Season 5, Robert Jr. admitted to Mary that he was battling drug and alcohol addiction and later sought treatment, as did Smokoff.
In December 2024, Mary Cosby shared an emotional update about her son on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “Rob is doing so good,” she said, fighting back tears. “I am so proud of him, so proud of him.” She added that he stayed at a treatment center for one month and completed his program, emerging “a new person.”
