JoJo Siwa Shares Health Update After Hospital Emergency Caused by Ruptured Ovarian Cyst

JoJo Siwa is reassuring fans she’s on the road to recovery after a scary health episode that landed her in the hospital last week.

The 22-year-old singer and TV personality revealed on Instagram that she is “doing a bit better” following a ruptured ovarian cyst, which she previously described as causing “excruciating pain.” Siwa shared the update with her 11 million followers on Tuesday, Dec. 2, thanking them for their “well wishes and prayers” after what she called an “eventful weekend.”

“I’m not in the clear yet, but feeling better and doing well!” she wrote. “I had a bit of a scare with a fever the night after I went to the hospital, but slept and woke up fever-free — and have been since!”

The Dance Moms alum added that she’s focusing on rest and staying hydrated. “I’m resting when I can, drinking lots of electrolytes,” she said, noting the “beautiful circle of love and support” surrounding her recovery.

Siwa’s post included a series of photos documenting her ordeal — from being loaded into an ambulance to lying in her hospital bed giving a thumbs-up. She also shared snapshots from her performance at the Mall of America on Friday, Nov. 28 — a show she carried on with only hours after the emergency.

One image showed a thermometer reading 100°F resting on her leg, highlighting the fever that briefly followed her hospital visit.

Her Instagram update comes just days after she explained her medical scare in a TikTok video. Siwa told fans that she had been experiencing severe stomach pain for days, which intensified Friday morning. After calling 911, she was rushed to the hospital, where an ultrasound revealed a burst ovarian cyst.

“One of my ovaries had a cyst on it that burst and was bleeding into my stomach,” she said. “Anytime the blood moves, that’s what causes the excruciating pain.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, ovarian cysts — fluid-filled sacs on or in the ovaries — can rupture and trigger serious symptoms.

Despite the ordeal, Siwa said she expects the issue to resolve on its own and plans to continue with her schedule, though she will return for medical follow-up next week.
