Emo rapper and genre-blending musician Poorstacy — known for fusing hip-hop, punk and heavy metal — has died at the age of 26.
The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner confirmed his death Monday. Police in Boca Raton also confirmed to Billboard that the Florida artist, born Carlito Milfort, died Saturday following what they described as an “incident.”
Officers were reportedly called to a hotel in Boca Raton, where the musician was found and later taken to a nearby hospital. DreamBiz Entertain has reached out to police for further comment.
As officials have not released a cause of death, fans have filled the rapper’s social media with emotional tributes — many expressing worry that he may have died by suicide.
“You just NEVER know how severe someone’s mental pain is… rest up stacy,” one follower wrote on his final Instagram post.
“Love you family, wish there was more we could do for you. Rest in paradise,” another added.
Hundreds of fans thanked Poorstacy for creating music that helped them through dark moments in their own lives.
Poorstacy rose to prominence with his emo-rap sound, releasing two studio albums and two EPs that built him a dedicated fanbase. He collaborated frequently with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker on tracks including “Choose Life,” “Nothing Left,” and “Hills Have Eyes.” Barker has not yet commented publicly.
The rapper also worked with Iann Dior and appeared on the Grammy-nominated Bill & Ted Face the Music soundtrack, further cementing his rising profile in the alternative music scene.
