Aaron Paul Moves His Family from Los Angeles to Paris After Devastating Wildfires in Los Angeles

Aaron Paul and his wife, Lauren, have officially traded Los Angeles for Paris — a move the actor says was prompted by the destructive wildfires that tore through parts of the city earlier this year.

“When the fires happened in LA, we just knew that we were done with LA,” the Breaking Bad star told the Daily Mail on Friday while attending the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. “So we sold our house in LA and moved to Paris.”

Paul, 46, said he’s enjoying life in France, even if his French vocabulary is still limited. “Paris is awesome,” he shared, adding with a laugh that he can “only say a few things,” including bonjour.

The move, he explained, was driven largely by their children — Story Annabelle, 7, and Ryden Caspian, 3. “We went out there for the kiddos,” he said. “We’ve always dreamt of doing a year abroad. We just always wanted to be around a completely different culture.”

The family has been enjoying Paris so much that they are now considering extending their stay beyond the original one-year plan.

Paul and Lauren have deep ties to the City of Lights. They got engaged in Paris in 2012 and later married in a Paris-themed ceremony in Malibu in 2013. Their decision to relocate came shortly after they put their Los Feliz home on the market in July.

The $10 million Spanish-style estate — previously owned by stars such as Tim Curry, Robert Pattinson and Jim Parsons — features a freeform pool, outdoor fireplace, amphitheater and koi pond, according to People.

The couple is among many Hollywood figures whose lives were disrupted by the wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles in January, particularly in the Palisades and Eaton areas. California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency as more than 100,000 residents were forced to evacuate.

Several celebrities lost their homes, including Paris Hilton, whose Malibu beachfront house was destroyed. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Heidi Klum, Anna Faris, Miles and Keleigh Teller, Anthony Hopkins and Eugene Levy also lost properties in the Pacific Palisades. Others — such as Britney Spears — were temporarily evacuated from their estates as the fires spread.
