Reality TV fans were stunned this week as Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker announced the end of their 11-year marriage.
In a heartfelt statement shared with People on Friday, the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum said:
“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”
The 49-year-old singer and entrepreneur added that her next chapter will focus on work, family, and personal growth:
“I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”
Fans began speculating about the couple’s separation earlier this week after Burruss removed Tucker’s last name from her Instagram handle. Tucker was also noticeably absent from BravoCon 2025, where Burruss was honored with the network’s prestigious “Wifetime Achievement Award.”
During her acceptance speech, Burruss thanked her family, friends, and longtime collaborators—including Tucker:
“To Todd, thank you for surviving the blogs, the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truth, the almost fights, the actual fights, the reunions—you earned this award too,” she said.
Even from afar, Tucker showed support on social media, responding:
“Much deserved, you did it with class and dignity. You’re an inspiration to many. You’re the GOAT!”
Sharp-eyed fans also noted that Burruss ditched her wedding ring during the three-day Las Vegas convention, sparking further speculation about the split.
The couple’s last public appearance together was at Xscape group member Tameka “Tiny” Harris’ 50th birthday party on July 14.
Burruss and Tucker tied the knot in 2014 in a lavish, Coming To America-themed wedding. The couple welcomed their first child, son Ace, in 2016, and daughter Blaze via surrogate in 2019.
Their marriage played out both on and off-screen, with Burruss balancing her life as a reality TV star, singer, entrepreneur, and mother.
In February 2024, Burruss announced her departure from Real Housewives of Atlanta after 14 seasons. Speaking to Variety at the 2024 Grammy Awards, she said:
“I decided I’m not coming back this year. It’s been 14 seasons, and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long, but during that time I had started working on a lot of other things, and I got some nice big projects coming soon, so I’m super excited about those things.”
