Cardi B and her legal team are hitting back hard against a former security guard’s bid to reopen a lawsuit the rapper recently won — calling the move nothing more than a desperate attempt to rewrite the outcome.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, Emani Ellis and her attorneys are seeking a new trial, arguing that the judge made errors by allowing two witnesses to testify in the original case. But Cardi’s team insists the claim has no merit.
In their response, the Grammy-winning rapper’s lawyers said it was “ironic” for Ellis to object to the witnesses, noting that she allegedly tried to recruit one of them to help her sue Cardi shortly after the 2018 incident that sparked the dispute.
Cardi — whose hit track “Am I the Drama?” has become a viral anthem — also dismissed Ellis’ claim that jurors may have been influenced by a separate incident outside the courthouse.

That altercation involved a reporter and a thrown pen after a question about Cardi’s pregnancy. Ellis’ side argues they need time to determine if any jurors saw it, but Cardi’s team says the situation is “irrelevant” and “not grounds for a retrial,” since the jury was instructed to consider only evidence presented during proceedings.
After winning the original case, Cardi vowed to take a tough stance against what she called “frivolous lawsuits”, warning she would “come down heavy” on anyone attempting to exploit her fame through the courts.
The rapper’s legal victory is the latest in a string of courtroom wins.
