Amy Schumer Claps Back at Claims She Deleted Pre–Weight Loss Photos, Says It’s About Health Not Image

Amy Schumer is setting the record straight about her recent Instagram refresh — and she wants everyone to know it’s not about shame or vanity.

Fans noticed this week that the 44-year-old comedian had wiped her entire Instagram feed, leaving behind just one post — a carousel showing her in a striking red minidress and black Chanel heels, confidently showing off her slimmed-down figure. The move sparked widespread speculation that Schumer had deleted her old photos to erase her pre-weight-loss look.

But the Trainwreck star quickly took to Instagram on Wednesday to shut down the rumors.

“I’m proud of how I’ve looked always,” Schumer wrote. “I have been working to be pain free and I finally am. My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal.”

The actress went on to explain that her Instagram makeover was about curation — not self-criticism.

“I am grateful to be strong and healthy especially for my son,” she continued. “But your Instagram is not your identity — it’s a curation of what you want the world to see. I feel great, strong and beautiful, and it’s been fun sharing that.”

Health Over Aesthetics

Schumer emphasized that her recent transformation wasn’t the result of a deliberate “weight-loss journey,” but rather the outcome of prioritizing her health after years of medical struggles.

“I’m sure my weight will always fluctuate,” she said. “I’m a perimenopausal woman on HRT meds. Wishing you strength and self love on whatever path you’re on as long as it’s kind and respectful to all people — no matter their weight, race, or religion. Peace!”

To drive the point home, Schumer posted a humorous follow-up photo showing herself in a hospital bed with no makeup and messy hair — proving she’s not afraid to laugh at herself or keep things real.

Openness About Health Struggles

The comedian has long been candid about her physical health, including her battles with endometriosis and hormonal issues. Earlier this year, she revealed that she had also been diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome — a condition caused by high cortisol levels that can lead to swelling and fatigue.

During her recovery, Schumer said she experimented with various medical treatments to regain her energy and mobility. She has also been open about trying popular weight-loss medications, not for cosmetic reasons but for overall wellness.

In an interview on The Howard Stern Show earlier this year, Schumer admitted that she first tried Ozempic nearly three years ago but stopped after severe side effects.

“It made me horribly sick,” she said. “I couldn’t function.”

Later, she switched to Mounjaro, another medication in the same class, and reported better results — losing about 35 pounds and feeling stronger and more energetic.

“My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy,” Schumer said in a March Instagram post. “I want to ‘get down’ more, if you know what I mean. I’m talking about sex. So, yeah, that’s been great. Mounjaro’s been great.”

Embracing Real Life

Beyond her health updates, Schumer continues to keep her trademark humor alive — especially when talking about marriage and motherhood.

The actress has been married to chef Chris Fischer, 45, since 2018. The couple shares a 6-year-old son, Gene, and Schumer has been refreshingly honest about the realities of balancing marriage and parenthood.

During a February appearance on The View, she joked that she and her husband have to “schedule sex” to make it happen.

“We do birthdays … we do schedule it,” she quipped. “Nobody ever is like, ‘Oh!’ There’s never like, a vibe where it just happens. Do people do that?”

Her humor, as always, strikes the perfect balance between relatable and raw — even as she navigates aging, hormonal changes, and fame under a microscope.

Amy Schumer’s response to the social media speculation reflects the self-assured confidence that has defined her career. Known for tackling taboos — from body image to reproductive health — she’s never shied away from speaking her truth, even when it makes people uncomfortable.

Her latest message? Health and happiness matter far more than aesthetics.

“I’m proud of how I’ve looked always,” she reiterated. “I finally feel strong, healthy, and pain-free.”
