SZA is making her priorities very clear — and love isn’t one of them. The LANA singer sat down with GQ to reveal the 10 things she can’t live without, and the top of the list wasn’t a partner, a hobby, or even music. It was food.
Specifically, a full meal from the beloved Los Angeles Italian hotspot Jon & Vinny’s.
“I’m so passionate about food,” the five-time Grammy winner said. “Honestly, over anything. Over the opposite sex, over the same sex, over sex in general.”
As the interview continued, her love for food kept finding its way into the conversation. Even while discussing her signature lip combination, SZA somehow took a detour into describing the perfect chili cheese dog. Eventually, the GQ team rolled out her favorite Jon & Vinny’s order, and she could barely contain her excitement.

“Y’all don’t know that I know food yet, but you will,” she teased.
On the table were some of her longtime staples — the White Lightning pizza, a house salad, a gem salad, a chicken cutlet and a bowl of rich buffalo garlic dip. Instead of simply eating her meal, SZA demonstrated how she builds it, revealing her own very specific food rituals. She pours a generous amount of dressing over the house salad before placing bits of it on top of individual pizza slices. The chicken cutlet gets dipped directly into the buffalo dressing every time. And the gem salad is eaten leaf by leaf, each one dipped in dressing, then parmesan cheese, then breadcrumbs.

She laughed about the habit, admitting she hyper-fixates on meals for long stretches of time. “I eat the same thing for like a year at a time and then I change it,” she said. “And this has actually been lasting several years.”

Her food obsessions are well known enough that True Food Kitchen even released a limited-time Caesar salad named the “SZA CZA” last year. At the time, she described Caesar salad as her “hyper fixation meal,” confirming that her love for good food is truly not a phase.
