‘Stranger Things’ Producer Breaks Silence on Millie Bobby Brown–David Harbour Drama, Calls Reports ‘Wildly Inaccurate’

The world of Stranger Things was rocked this week by headlines suggesting tension between two of the show’s biggest stars — but executive producer Shawn Levy says much of what has circulated is far from the truth.

Speaking at the Season 5 world premiere in Los Angeles, Levy addressed reports claiming that Millie Bobby Brown had filed a complaint accusing co-star David Harbour of bullying and harassment. The claims, first brought to light earlier in the week, quickly made international news and sparked intense speculation among fans.

Levy said the coverage surrounding the situation has been “inaccurate,” emphasizing that the cast and crew share a close bond that has developed over nearly a decade of working together.

“I’ve read a bunch of stories and they’ve ranged from wildly inaccurate,” Levy told The Hollywood Reporter, noting that there has been “so much noise around” the allegations. He stressed that Stranger Things has always operated like a family. “The truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been the bedrock.”

The producer went on to explain that maintaining a healthy, respectful environment on set is part of his responsibility as a leader. “At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe. So we did everything to build that environment, and we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”

Reports earlier this week claimed that Brown submitted a detailed complaint against Harbour prior to filming the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series. A source alleged that an internal review followed, but emphasized that Harbour was not accused of any sexual misconduct. In the series, Brown plays Eleven, while Harbour portrays her father figure, Jim Hopper.

Despite the headlines, Brown and Harbour appeared united at Thursday night’s premiere. The pair were seen smiling, hugging, and laughing together on the red carpet — a display that many interpreted as a deliberate statement against the rumors. Brown even described the reunion as “amazing” during an interview at the event.

A body language expert later weighed in, calling the warmth between them “a bit over the top,” but agreed there were no clear signs of genuine tension.

With Season 5 marking the final chapter of the globally beloved sci-fi series, the stars and creators seem eager to ensure the show’s legacy is defined by its impact — not controversy.
