The son of well-known rap executive and alleged Rolling 60s Crip leader Big U has been shot and killed in Los Angeles, marking a devastating blow for one of hip-hop’s most controversial figures.
Authorities confirmed that Jabari “Baby Uiie” Henley, 34, was fatally shot on Halloween night. According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, Henley reportedly approached a parked vehicle when someone inside opened fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, and no arrests have been announced.
Rapper and music mogul Luce Cannon, who is currently incarcerated alongside Big U at the Metropolitan Detention Center, told TMZ that Big U is “heartbroken” over his son’s death. Cannon also suggested that Henley may have known the person who shot him, though that has not been confirmed by investigators.
Big U — best known for managing the late Nipsey Hussle and for his influence in Los Angeles rap culture — has been in the headlines this year due to his legal troubles. Earlier in 2025, he turned himself in after being named in a sweeping RICO indictment.
In a video recorded before surrendering, Big U said:
“They’re calling me a fugitive. They just raided all my houses… I’m going to turn myself in and see what’s going on.”
Federal prosecutors have accused him of leading a criminal organization linked to murder, extortion, fraud, robbery, and kidnapping. The indictment also alleges that he extorted celebrities and athletes by requiring them to “check in” — paying for protection when traveling through Los Angeles — and that he defrauded donors and public figures including Shaquille O’Neal and Draymond Green.
Big U is currently awaiting trial, scheduled for May 4, 2026. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
As of now, the investigation into Henley’s killing continues, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
