Ulinzi Stars Sack Head Coach Danstun Nyaudo After Defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz

Ulinzi Stars Football Club has parted ways with head coach Danstun Nyaudo following a poor run of results in the FKF Premier League.

In a statement released by the club, Ulinzi confirmed that Nyaudo had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

“The management appreciates Coach Nyaudo’s dedication, professionalism, and service to the team both on and off the pitch during his time in charge,” the statement read.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to Coach Nyaudo for his contribution to the Ulinzi Stars family and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”

Nyaudo’s dismissal comes just days after Ulinzi’s 3-1 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend. The defeat marked their second consecutive loss of the season, following a 2-1 fall to Mara Sugar a week earlier.

During the match, Nyaudo’s decision to start star forward Boniface Muchiri on the bench raised eyebrows among fans. The coach later clarified that his choice was due to concerns over fatigue and load management.

“Muchiri is an experienced player and what I am trying to do is manage his recovery,” Nyaudo told Azam TV after the game.
“He has not had proper rest for over a season now, so I am cautious with how I use him. You saw the difference he made when he came on, but I have to balance his recovery and game time.”

Muchiri made an immediate impact after being introduced in the second half, scoring a brilliant volley from a free kick to give Ulinzi their only goal of the match. However, the strike proved to be a mere consolation as Homeboyz held firm to secure victory.

Reflecting on the performance, Nyaudo admitted that his team was “below par” across all departments and failed to convert their chances.

“It was a bad day in the office,” he said. “We did not play well across the pitch. Homeboyz created chances and took them, while we did not. Credit to them, they executed their plan effectively.”

Ulinzi Stars, the four-time league champions, have struggled to find consistency this season. After an opening-day 1-0 win over Murang’a Seal and goalless draws against Kariobangi Sharks and Kenya Police FC, they now sit 12th on the league table with just five points.
