Actor Lukas Gage is going through a deeply emotional chapter in his life — juggling heartbreak, grief, and reconciliation all at once. During a candid appearance on the Just Trish podcast released Thursday, the Euphoria star broke down as he opened up about losing his grandmother, reconnecting with his estranged father, and coping with his recent divorce from celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton.
“I think part of this book was having forgiveness, and I think that you can only love to the extent that you were taught to love,” the 30-year-old actor told host Trisha Paytas. “I think I humanized my dad.”
Lukas revealed that his father became distant during his teenage years and eventually remarried without informing the family. He said they hadn’t spent more than two minutes together in years until the death of his grandmother forced them back into the same room.
Reflecting on the experience, Lukas said seeing his father mourn his mother gave him a new sense of understanding. “When I saw him with our grandma, I saw him as a kid,” he said tearfully. “Our parents are just like wounded kids.”

He went on to explain that his complicated feelings toward his father have evolved. “I say in the book, I hate my dad, but I love him as a person,” he admitted.
The actor, known for his roles in The White Lotus and You, finalized his divorce from Appleton last year after just six months of marriage. The couple had tied the knot in a star-studded Las Vegas ceremony officiated by Kim Kardashian.
While Lukas continues to heal from the breakup and navigate his personal struggles, he’s channeling his emotions into his latest creative project — his book I Wrote This For Attention, which is now available. The memoir explores themes of love, forgiveness, and self-acceptance, offering fans an unfiltered look at the man behind the spotlight.
