Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is said to have faced a terrifying moment behind bars after allegedly waking up to find a knife pressed against his throat during a night at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn.
According to TMZ, one of Diddy’s close friends, Charlucci Finney, spoke out about the frightening encounter, claiming it happened while the rapper and producer was asleep. Finney told the Daily Mail that Diddy woke up with the blade to his neck — just seconds away from serious injury or even death.
“I don’t know if the guards came to break it up or if he fought the guy off,” Finney said, adding that the situation was extremely dangerous. Sources close to the case confirmed to TMZ that the incident did occur, and that Diddy was fortunate to escape unharmed.
Finney suggested the attack may have been an attempt to intimidate Diddy, noting that MDC Brooklyn has a reputation for being one of the most difficult and volatile prisons in the U.S. “Prison just isn’t safe for anyone convicted in a case related to sex,” he added, expressing concern for his friend’s safety.

During Diddy’s sentencing hearing, his attorney Brian Steel also mentioned the incident, telling the court that a prison guard intervened and stopped the knife-wielding inmate before any harm was done.
Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison after being convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for unlawful sexual activity. He was, however, acquitted of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
Reports from TMZ earlier indicated that former U.S. President Donald Trump was considering granting Diddy a pardon — though the White House Communications Office has publicly denied any such plans.
Prison consultant and former inmate Sam Mangel told TMZ Live that while Diddy’s next facility may not be as dangerous as MDC Brooklyn, he will still need to remain alert. “He’s got to keep his head on a swivel,” Mangel warned.
