Blake Lively Subtly Supports Taylor Swift’s New Album Amid Legal Drama

Blake Lively appeared to show quiet support for her longtime friend Taylor Swift following the release of the pop star’s new album The Life of a Showgirl. The It Ends With Us actress “liked” Swift’s Instagram post celebrating the debut of her twelfth studio album on Thursday night — a small but noticeable gesture that caught fans’ attention.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right,” Swift, 35, captioned a glamorous post filled with showgirl-inspired photos. “A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self-portrait. If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain… The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”

Reps for both Lively and Swift have not commented on the interaction, which comes amid ongoing speculation about the status of their friendship. Some fans believed Swift’s new track “Ruin the Friendship” hinted at a rift between the two women, but the lyrics — which tell a story about a high school romance — suggest otherwise.

Lively and Swift’s once-close friendship saw them frequently spotted together at fashion events and cozy gatherings, but their bond reportedly cooled after Lively’s sexual harassment lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni. Legal documents from September revealed that Swift’s name had surfaced in the court proceedings, with Baldoni’s team previously attempting to subpoena her for a deposition.

Though the summons was later dropped, court papers indicated Baldoni’s lawyers claimed Swift had “agreed” to be deposed between October 20 and 25 due to her professional schedule — which happens to align with her major album release week. Swift’s legal team, however, quickly refuted those claims.

“My client did not agree to a deposition,” her attorneys wrote to Judge Lewis J. Liman. “But if she is forced into a deposition, we advised that her schedule would accommodate the time required during the week of October 20.”

Lively’s lawyers also dismissed the idea that Swift had confirmed any testimony, writing in their filing that Baldoni’s team had provided “no evidence” to support their claim.

Swift was initially drawn into the legal dispute earlier this year when Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively, accusing her of extortion and defamation after she sued him for sexual harassment and retaliation. Court documents even suggested that Lively had once referred to her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Swift as her protective “dragons.”

A source previously told Page Six that the situation left Swift feeling uncomfortable. “Taylor really wishes Blake hadn’t dragged her into this whole situation,” the insider said. “They have been friends for years and Taylor cherishes genuine friendships, but she can’t help but feel used at this point.”

While Baldoni’s countersuit was dismissed in June, Lively’s case is still ongoing.
Despite the legal storm, Lively’s quiet “like” on Swift’s post may signal that there’s still some friendship — or at least mutual respect — between the two stars.
