Prince Harry Won’t Return as Part-Time Royal Despite Reunion With King Charles

Prince Harry will not be allowed to take on a part-time royal role, despite recently reuniting with his father, King Charles III, during a visit to the UK.

According to the Daily Mail, palace insiders say King Charles is committed to upholding Queen Elizabeth II’s decision that there can be no “half-in, half-out” members of the royal family.

“The King is a forgiving man but has been absolutely clear in upholding his late mother’s decision that there cannot be ‘half-in, half-out’ members of the working royal family,” a source told the paper.

This comes after speculation that Harry’s four-day trip could pave the way for a new working model, where he balances royal duties while continuing to live in the US with his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.

One insider dismissed the idea, saying, “Whoever is behind [the Sussexes] seems to have mistaken a brief tea and a slice of cake for the Treaty of Versailles.” Another said statements suggesting otherwise only damage trust between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.

The source also highlighted the importance of unity between King Charles and Prince William, especially during US President Donald Trump’s recent state visit. “The power and impact of the modern monarchy lies in the unshakeable bond between The King and the Prince of Wales, supported by other working members of the family,” the insider said.

Prince Harry, however, has remained quiet on the matter. His spokesperson told Page Six: “The Duke has made it clear that the focus, as it relates to his family, is his father — beyond that, and on any other issues as it relating to the Royal family, we won’t be commenting.”

During his trip, Harry reportedly told singer Joss Stone that he admired the schools and community in the UK, suggesting he would be open to moving back one day. His spokesperson also said he enjoyed reconnecting with friends and supporting causes close to his heart.

Harry and King Charles are said to have met privately for less than an hour, sharing tea while Harry showed his father photos and videos of his children.

Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior royals in January 2020 and later settled in Montecito, California.
