Manchester United Record Highest Revenue Despite Poorest Season in Decades

Manchester United have announced record revenues for the 2024/25 season, despite enduring their worst campaign on the pitch in more than half a century.

On Wednesday, the club released its financial results, showing revenue of £666.5 million (Sh909 billion) for the year ending June 30, 2025. This marked a slight increase of £4.7 million, or 0.7 percent, compared to the previous year, breaking their previous record.

The biggest growth came from commercial revenue, which rose by 10 percent. This was largely driven by United’s front-of-shirt sponsorship with Snapdragon — the most valuable in global sport — and the launch of a new e-commerce model with SCAYL.

United also cut costs significantly, saving £51.5 million after reducing operational expenses and lowering employee costs by 14.1 percent. The club made 200 staff redundant in what it described as “wider club restructuring.” Player wages also dropped by 25 percent following failure to qualify for the Champions League in the last two seasons.

The club highlighted an EBITDA of £182.8 million — a key profit measure — calling it the highest achieved by any European club since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief executive Omar Berrada praised the financial resilience of the club, despite finishing 15th in the Premier League and missing out on European competitions.

“To have generated record revenues during such a challenging year for the club demonstrates the resilience which is a hallmark of Manchester United,” Berrada said. “As we settle into the 2025/26 season, we are working hard to improve the club in all areas.”
