Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly keen on signing Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as the club looks for a new No.9 in the summer of 2026.
The Spanish giants are preparing for life after Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is running out. Lewandowski, now 37, is not expected to be offered an extension despite scoring 42 goals last season to help Barcelona win the La Liga title.
Reports suggest Atletico Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, a World Cup winner with Argentina, is also being considered. However, Laporta is said to view Haaland as his top target.
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Haaland has been Laporta’s “obsession since he became president,” with confidence behind the scenes that the Norwegian striker will one day wear the Barcelona shirt.
Haaland, who has been a star at Manchester City, is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2034. He is believed to earn around £400,000 a week, and crucial release clauses from his previous deal were removed when he signed his current contract.
