If variety is the spice of life, then Padma Lakshmi certainly has her hands full.
The habitual TV host and author celebrated her latest “trip around the sun” with a Vogue India cover, is about to publish her eighth book and has a new show in the works. But don’t worry — she still found time to mark the occasion in style with an Instagram bikini post.
Clad in a hot pink triangle top and coordinating side-tie bottoms, the 55-year-old former model looked radiant (if not a bit cold) while stepping into the surf, getting in one last splash during Labor Day weekend.
Presumably filmed by her 15-year-old daughter, Krishna, and accompanied by Divina, her rescue Chihuahua, Lakshmi gave fans a nice glimpse into what was surely a busy summer full of mother-daughter style banter.
It’s not the first time Lakshmi has sported this swimsuit this summer. In late July, she shared a few rooftop snaps from the Hamptons, clad in the same two-piece set.
“That lady hasn’t lost her touch for decades now. Wow Padma, love it,” one fan commented at the time.
Padma and Krishna have been seen frequently on the events circuit this year, but their biggest shared moment in the spotlight came just last month with a shared Vogue India interview. It’s their first official magazine cover together, and as the younger Lakshmi would say, “they left no crumbs.”
While mother and daughter’s latest pursuits include the drama program at New York’s Professional Children’s School by day and doing stand-up comedy by night, the “twin flames” also share a love of fashion. And with a collection of archival designer looks from the ’90s and ’00s at their disposal, there is bound to be some wardrobe raiding.
In a video Q&A accompanying the fall issue, the Lakshmi women confess to a near-constant critique of one another’s outfits.
“Before we leave the house, we’re pretty brutal with each other,” admitted Krishna. “I will be like, ‘You can’t wear that in public with me.’”
While the teen encouraged her mom to dress more provocatively, Padma retorted, “Some of your skirts are too short for me. And a little short for you, too. P.S.”
Will the supremely stylish duo be swapping swimwear next? Labor Day weekend may have come and gone, but there’s still time to make a final end-of-summer splash.
