The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteers, scheduled to take place from February 10 to 15, 2025.
According to the NYS, eligible candidates must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 24 years, with a minimum KCSE grade of D and above.
Applicants are required to present a valid national ID card and a certificate of good conduct. They must also be willing to undergo medical check-ups during and after the recruitment and participate in rigorous physical training.

Successful candidates will join the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil and the National Youth Service Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha, as specified in their calling letters.
The NYS emphasized that special preference will be given to orphans who meet the qualification criteria, provided they produce documentary proof such as death certificates or burial permits of their parents.
Persons with disabilities are also encouraged to participate in the recruitment at their respective sub-county centers, provided they can withstand the physical demands of the program.
The exercise will be conducted in various counties on specific dates. NYS urges candidates to adhere to the outlined requirements.
Commandant General of the NYS cautioned against corruption during the recruitment process, stating, “NYS does not condone corruption in any form. Canvassing or giving bribes for admission is an offense and may lead to automatic disqualification or prosecution.”
