Authorities have launched an investigation into TikTok star Hannah Hiatt following allegations of mistreatment involving her young son, James.
The Ogden Police Department in Utah confirmed on December 10 that they are investigating the claims after receiving “numerous reports” through Child Protective Services and police.
A detective has been assigned to the case.
Hannah, who gained attention for her viral TikTok video featuring 17 dirty diapers scattered around her house in October, came under scrutiny last month after sharing a video of her son sitting in a grocery store cart.
In the clip, James appeared to flinch and raise his hands to his face when her husband walked toward him, leading to concerns from viewers that James seemed “terrified” of his parents.
Some fans even drew comparisons to Ruby Franke, a parenting YouTuber facing child abuse charges.
In response to the accusations, Hannah denied any wrongdoing in a TikTok video posted on November 30, defending her family and insisting that her children are “healthy” and “well-nourished.”
She criticized critics for trying to turn minor incidents into something more sensational, adding that being compared to Ruby Franke was “comical.”
Hannah also expressed confidence in her husband’s parenting, calling him the “sweetest, nicest, kindest, most-loving, most-nurturing father.”
As the investigation unfolds, the Ogden Police Department and Hannah’s representative have yet to comment further.
