A powerful “Live Aid”-style concert is bringing musicians from across the North East together to raise funds for local charity Love, Amelia, with the aim of tackling child poverty in the region.
The event, which sold out quickly, will take place at the Fire Station in Sunderland and feature performances from notable acts, including The Futureheads and Paul Smith of Maximo Park.
Organized by Sunderland Music City, the concert hopes to raise £50,000 to support Love, Amelia’s mission to assist families in poverty and hardship across Tyne and Wear and County Durham.
Since its inception in 2019, the charity has provided more than 13,000 bundles of essential items to those in need.
Andrew Dipper from Music Against Child Poverty LIVE described the event as “incredibly exciting,” emphasizing the collaboration of well-known North East musicians and the “surprises” promised for attendees.
Dipper also highlighted the alarming statistic that over a third of children in Sunderland are living in poverty, reinforcing the concert’s importance in helping combat this pressing issue.
He expressed gratitude for the many artists volunteering their time to support the cause.
