Andy Cohen is applauding the bold decision to revamp Vanderpump Rules for its upcoming 12th season by replacing its longtime cast members.
Speaking for the first time about the significant changes, the Watch What Happens Live host expressed his support for the move during the December 2 episode of his SiriusXM show, Andy Cohen Live.
“I have to say, this is, first of all, the absolute right thing to do,” Andy remarked, praising Bravo’s decision to refresh the series.
He acknowledged the challenges of keeping the show going over the past few years, especially as the core cast members drifted away from their original roles at SUR, the restaurant central to the show.
“Slowly but surely none of them were working at SUR,” he noted, adding that James Kennedy was the last cast member with a significant presence there, DJing occasionally before expanding his career with a successful Vegas residency.
Andy also reflected on how the show’s focus has evolved over time, noting that many of the stars have now found success outside the restaurant.
As for the series finale of season 11, Cohen believes it was the perfect time to transition.
“If you look at the last episode of last season… it really did, watch the last ten minutes or five minutes, it felt like an absolute series finale,” he said, congratulating the show for a strong conclusion before the shakeup.
