Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has addressed the online speculation following a video where he commented on his time spent with embattled American mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
In an interview with Wasafi TV, the Bongo Flava singer confirmed that he is aware of the online discussions linking him to Diddy but chose to downplay the rumors.
Diamond expressed his respect for Diddy, stating that while people often talk about him, his online persona and real life are vastly different.
“Mimi ni mtu ambaye huongelewa kwa maneno na kwa vitu tofauti… Maisha yangu mtandaoni, kwenye sanaa na kiuhalisia ni vitu tofauti sana. …huwa sijibu comment za watu,” he said, explaining that he does not respond to online comments or rumors.
The father of four emphasized that out of respect for the 54-year-old American star, he will not make any comments regarding Diddy’s ongoing legal troubles until a final court ruling is made.
“Sitajifanya mchambuzi katika tukio lake kwa maana sijafanya sheria. Kwa ufupi, mpaka mahakama yaseme neno. Binafsi siwezi nikamhukumu lakini ninamheshimu kama mtu amvmbaye anajua vitu vingi mziki,”Diamond said, adding that while he respects Diddy’s knowledge of music, he won’t act as a commentator on the legal situation.
Diamond further noted that, despite the rumors, he remains focused on his music and unbothered by what people say about him online.
“Mimi ni miongoni mwa sananii komavu na shupavu. Wewe andika na sema chochote unachotaka lakini sikujibu, sikohoi na sitetereki,” the singer remarked, stressing that he is a resilient and mature artist who refuses to be shaken by online gossip.
Diddy, who was arrested earlier this month and is currently detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre in New York, faces serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and violence.
However, Diamond remains firm in his decision not to discuss the matter further until there is a legal conclusion.
