Andrés Iniesta, the man who scored the historic goal that led Spain to victory in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, has announced via social media that he will reveal his future plans on October 8.
In a series of posts across his platforms, Iniesta shared a teaser titled “coming soon,” featuring a hooded artist painting a mural of his image.
The mural included the phrase “Welcome to my future,” written in English, along with the significant date of October 8.
According to various reports, the Barcelona legend is widely expected to announce his retirement from professional football at the age of 40.
Iniesta has enjoyed a long and highly successful career, which is now set to come to a close.
The Albacete-born midfielder has been without a club since his contract with the Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates ended in June of this year.
His professional journey has been deeply tied to Barcelona, where he joined as a youth player and remained until June 2018.
Over 16 seasons with the first team, Iniesta made 674 official appearances.
After leaving Barcelona, Iniesta continued his career in Japan with Vissel Kobe from 2018 to July 2023, before briefly playing for the Emirates Club between August 2023 and June 2024.
