Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) and former head of the Kenya Film Classification Board, has hinted at his intention to enter the political arena in 2027. Born in Machakos in 1967, Mutua made the announcement via his social media, stating, “Tukutane kwa debe 2027!” (“Let’s meet at the ballot in 2027!”)
The announcement drew mixed reactions, with Julius A. Nyerere responding critically, suggesting that Mutua “lacks the essential ingredients of Kenyan politics” and advising him to embrace some level of duplicity in his approach.
In a firm rebuttal, Mutua expressed optimism about the future of leadership in Kenya, stating, “A time is coming when righteousness will flow like a river and Godliness like a mighty stream. People will yearn for authentic Godly leadership, and we shall let God use us to answer the call.”
As Mutua prepares for this potential political journey, his statements reflect a commitment to integrity and a vision for a more principled political landscape in Kenya.
