Harambee Stars Rise In FIFA Rankings After Impressive AFCON Qualifiers

Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, has made significant strides in the latest FIFA World Rankings, climbing six places to position 102. This improvement, announced on Thursday, follows the team’s recent strong performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Harambee Stars now have 1208.96 points, up from 1197.73, thanks to their recent matches. On September 6, they held Zimbabwe to a 0-0 draw in a Group J qualifier in Uganda, followed by a crucial 2-1 win against Namibia in South Africa four days later. Namibia, ranked 98th before the match, provided tough opposition, but Kenya’s victory played a key role in boosting their global standing.

Globally, the top 10 rankings remained unchanged, with Argentina, France, and Spain holding the top three positions. Morocco continues to lead African teams in 14th place, with Senegal and Egypt following at 21st and 31st, respectively.

Within East Africa, Uganda ranks 90th, while Tanzania improved to 110th. Kenya has a chance to break into the top 100 if they secure a positive result against Cameroon in their next AFCON qualifier in October.
