Ajib Gathoni, a popular Kenyan TikToker, recently opened up about her battle with adenomyosis, a condition she was diagnosed with last month. At 25, Ajib has been experiencing severe and debilitating pain during her menstrual periods, exacerbated by blood clots on her uterine wall that bleed simultaneously with her regular menstruation, causing what she describes as “double pain.”
She has tried various medications and lifestyle adjustments, such as exercising and following a specific diet, but none have provided lasting relief. One temporary solution suggested by her gynecologist is pregnancy, which would alleviate the pain for nine months, though Ajib sees this as only a short-term fix.
Now, she is seriously considering more permanent solutions, including forced menopause, which could involve the surgical removal of her uterus or ovaries. Forced menopause would stop her periods entirely and could offer a long-term solution to her chronic pain.
Ajib’s next medical check-up is scheduled for October 2024, where she hopes to explore these options further. Her openness about the condition has raised awareness and drawn support from her 1.4 million TikTok followers, as she navigates this difficult journey.
