Popular Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko, better known as Bahati, and his wife Diana Marua recently shared an emotional reunion with two girls from a children’s home. The heartfelt moment was captured and shared on Diana’s YouTube channel on September 16.
Bahati and Diana Celebrate a Family Reunion
In the video, Bahati and Diana welcomed Rose and Purity into their home, a reunion that stirred deep emotions. Bahati revealed that he had formed a close bond with the two girls during his earlier years, while he was also fostering their son, Morgan. Despite his strong desire to adopt them, legal constraints prevented him from doing so at that time.
“When I started fathering Morgan, I also had Rose and Purity with me. At that time, I was still young and struggling financially. The legal requirements for adopting girls were more stringent, and I was unable to meet them,” Bahati explained.
Bahati, who himself grew up in a children’s home, shared the pain of having to return the girls to the orphanage. He expressed his regret at not being able to provide them with a permanent home but highlighted how difficult the decision was for him.
“It was a heartbreaking choice to return the girls. I wanted to help them, but the legal and personal circumstances made it impossible for me to keep them,” he said.
Continuing Support and Joyful Reunion
Even though Bahati could not adopt Rose and Purity, he continued to support them in various ways over the years. The recent reunion was the first time they had come together as a family in many years.
“I’ve been supporting them as much as I could, but this is the first time we’ve reunited like this. I’m proud of this moment and the progress they’ve made,” Bahati said with pride.
Morgan’s Emotional Reaction and Diana’s New Role
The most touching part of the reunion was when the girls entered the house and Morgan, who had grown up with them, recognized them as his sisters. Morgan was visibly moved, shedding tears of joy, which Diana described as a deeply emotional family moment.
Adding a light-hearted touch to the occasion, Diana Marua playfully embraced her new role as a ‘Shosho dotcom’ (modern grandmother) after Rose revealed that she now has a baby. Diana’s playful comment about being a ‘Shosho wa madoo’ (rich grandmother) brought a smile to everyone’s faces.
The reunion not only highlighted the strong family bonds formed in the children’s home but also showcased the enduring love and support Bahati and Diana have for the girls, despite the challenges they faced.
