Bishop Kiengei Breaks Silence On Leaked Phone Call Drama

Bishop Ben ‘Muthee Kiengei’ Kamau of JCM Church in Ruiru has found himself at the center of social media drama after a leaked phone conversation between businesswoman Damaris Wanjiru, CEO of Dama Mobile Spares, and U.S.-based evangelist Wairimu Kimani. The explosive call, which delved into personal matters involving Bishop Kiengei and his wife, has sparked widespread speculation and controversy among church members and the public.

Addressing the situation, Bishop Kiengei responded during a sermon with a mix of caution and humor, urging his followers to be careful with whom they confide. “You have seen how someone opened up to a friend, and the information got out. If a close friend can betray you, imagine what someone more distant could do,” he remarked, warning about the dangers of misplaced trust.

In a direct moment during the sermon, Kiengei humorously warned a congregant, “Even Nyambura, who is sitting next to you, don’t tell her anything. Some secrets are better taken to the grave—people will leave you exposed, like harvested sweet potatoes.”

The bishop also shared advice for married couples, cautioning them about oversharing personal matters, even with their spouses. “Even you, Mrs. Charles, there are things you shouldn’t tell Charles. Sometimes, even your partner doesn’t need to know everything,” he said, blending humor with a message of caution.

Amidst the drama, Kiengei humorously dismissed allegations regarding his wife’s character, joking about his search for evidence at home. “I’ve turned the house upside down looking for even one roll. I could’ve used it to calm my head with all the chaos,” he quipped, referring to a claim made in the leaked conversation.

Despite the social media storm, Kiengei reassured his congregation that challenges are a test of faith. “God cannot give you challenges you can’t overcome,” he declared, thanking his church members for their unwavering support through the ordeal.

In a surprising twist, Evangelist Wairimu Kimani, whose voice was on the leaked call, has since issued a public apology. She claimed the audio was recorded without her knowledge by a close friend. In her apology, she expressed deep regret for the hurt caused to Bishop Kiengei, his family, and the JCM Church. “I am deeply sorry… I never intended to cause harm,” she said, explaining that women often trust each other with their most painful thoughts.

Kimani further denied any malicious intent and vowed to take legal action to clear her name, emphasizing that her actions were misinterpreted and not premeditated. She also reached out to Damaris Wanjiru and the entire JCM Church, asking for forgiveness.
