The drama began when Bishop Kiengei made disparaging remarks about Stevo and Pritty Vishy, which quickly went viral. Celebrities, including Pritty Vishy herself, condemned Kiengei’s words, labeling them as disrespectful. In response to the backlash, the bishop issued a public apology to Pritty Vishy and even helped her secure five brand ambassador deals. However, Stevo Simple Boy was noticeably left out of the apology, a move that didn’t sit well with the beloved musician.
Stevo Speaks Out: “We Were All Insulted”
After staying silent for days, Stevo Simple Boy has now broken his silence, speaking out during an interview on 2mbili TV on September 11. The humble artist, adored by many Kenyans, expressed his disappointment at being excluded from the apology.
“Kiengei aliangalia pande moja, aliangalai girl child. Sisi wote tuko na haki na sisi wote tulitusiwa (Kiengei only looked at one side, the girl child. We all have rights, and we were all insulted),” Stevo said, highlighting the unfairness of the situation. He also added that pastors should focus on their spiritual duties rather than making hurtful comments about others.
Stevo’s Ultimatum and Threat to Protest
Stevo Simple Boy is not taking the situation lightly. He issued a firm 24-hour ultimatum to Bishop Kiengei, demanding a public apology. If the apology is not forthcoming, Stevo has vowed to lead his fans in a protest at Kiengei’s church.
“Kiengei nampaa masaa ishirini na nne. Kama hakuna apology then naamuru Wakenya na wafuasi wangu twende GCM tugome (Kiengei has 24 hours. If there’s no apology, then I instruct Kenyans and my followers to go to GCM and protest),” Stevo declared, signaling his readiness to take action.
In his final statement, Stevo demanded that the apology be made in person in Kibera, where he resides. “Aombe msamaha na akuje moja kwa moja mpaka kule Kibera. Si alisema ananijua mpaka mahali nalala, akuje basi tuongee (He should apologize and come to Kibera. He said he knows where I sleep, so let him come, and we’ll talk),” Stevo added, standing his ground.
