Taylor Swift still wants smoke with Kanye West.
Fifteen years after West snatched the mic from Swift in a jaw-dropping MTV Video Music Awards moment, the pop musician retitled a scathing track Tortured Poets Department track to seemingly reference him. Originally titled “thanK you aIMee” to spell “Kim,” as in West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, the track is now titld “thank You aimEe,” appearing to be for “Ye.”
The new song version, which appears on the digital version of Swift’s eleventh album on her website, is a live mash-up of “thanK you aIMee” and her 2010 single “Mean,” performed at the Wembley Stadium stop of the Eras Tour last month.
During one Wembley performance of “aIMee,” she gave a speech thanking her fans for their support while shading Kardashian for being “somebody” who “talks shit.” Nearly ten years before, Swift denied permitting West to reference her on his Life of Pablo single “Famous,” to which Kardashian claimed to GQ the singer approved it.
The Kardashians star even posted an apparent phone call between Swift and West discussing lyrics from the song prior to its release, before calling the 14-time Grammy winner a “snake.” Swift and Kardashian’s fallout would last for years, as Swift would allege that an extended version of the recording was “edited and manipulated” in her Instagram Stories in 2020.
But on his latest album, Vultures 2, West would jump back into the feud with a quick dig at Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” West rapped on “Lifestyle (Demo).”
Taking a swipe at West on Facebook earlier this month was Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, who clearly isn’t a fan of the rapper-producer. “Mental illness on full display,” he captioned his post above a headline about “Lifestyle (Demo)
