Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat announced a significant reshuffle in the police force on Monday, August 12, moving 17 senior officers and naming a new deputy commandant of the General Service Unit (GSU).
One of the key changes includes the transfer of Richard Rotich, the former Rift Valley deputy regional commander, to the GSU, where he has been appointed the new deputy commandant. Rotich replaces Omar Bashane, who has retired from the position.
In Lamu County, Edward Kipsang has been appointed the new county commander, replacing William Samoei Kibiwott. Kibiwott has been reassigned to the General Service Unit College in Embakasi, where he will serve as the commandant, with Titus Mutune named as his deputy.
Judy Kalondu has been appointed as the staff officer for personnel at the Kenya Airports Police Unit, while Joshua Kasoka will take on the role of commanding officer at the police headquarters.
William Sawe has been named the new head of operations at the GSU, with Nixon Auka also stationed at the headquarters. Additional appointments include Charles Chesir, who will oversee transport at the GSU, Mwanadoyo Mayaa, who will handle gender and welfare at the GSU, David Kigai as the deputy commander at the headquarters, James Mamir in charge of training, and Vitalis Adawa, who will be based at the headquarters.
Other notable changes include Judy Gichuba being appointed as the officer in charge of the leadership and management faculty at B Campus, and Bernard Mbatha named the deputy director of operations at the police headquarters.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo has been redeployed to the GSU’s elite Recce unit, where he will serve as the deputy head. Meanwhile, Philomen Leshoo has been named the sub-county commander for Rachuonyo.
