Rapper T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was mistakenly arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta on August 5.
The mix-up occurred because another individual with the same name, wanted in Baltimore, Maryland, was the target of the arrest warrant.
According to TMZ, the 43-year-old rapper was detained by authorities and taken to Clayton County Jail.
An automatic extradition hearing was issued due to the arrest warrant for the other Clifford Harris, who is wanted for alleged stalking and violent behavior toward a woman.
T.I. was released within two hours of his arrest, with his attorney, Steve Sadow, confirming that a judge promptly dismissed the extradition order. The artist has not yet commented on the incident.
This is not the first time T.I. has faced legal issues. His previous arrest occurred in Amsterdam in 2021 after a minor bike accident with a police vehicle, but he was only detained for 25 minutes.
Earlier in 2018, he was arrested on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness after a dispute with a security guard at his gated community.
Additionally, T.I. and his wife, Tiny Harris, recently sought to dismiss a sexual assault lawsuit filed by an Air Force veteran.
The lawsuit alleges that the couple drugged and raped her after meeting at a Los Angeles club in 2005. The Harrises have denied the allegations, and reports indicate that over 30 women have accused them of various crimes over the past 15 years in Georgia and California.
