Justin Timberlake’s Attorney Says Singer Was Not Intoxicated During DWI Arrest

Justin Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., has stated that the singer was not intoxicated when he was arrested for driving while impaired (DWI) in mid-June.

Speaking to Page Six after a recent court hearing, Burke insisted that Timberlake should not have been charged with DWI.

“The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI,” Burke said. Timberlake was not required to attend the hearing.

Burke pointed out that there were significant errors in the initial charging documents. He mentioned that one critical mistake was the lack of a signature from a superior officer on the paperwork.

“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case,” Burke noted, adding that the district attorney attempted to correct some of these errors in court.

Despite acknowledging Timberlake’s respect for law enforcement, Burke asserted that the arrest was a mistake and expressed confidence that the charges will be dismissed.

Timberlake was charged with a misdemeanor after police reported that he ran a stop sign and drifted out of his lane in the Hamptons area. Officers noted a smell of alcohol on Timberlake’s breath, though he told them he had only had “one martini” and refused a breathalyzer test. His mugshot quickly became a subject of internet memes, with jokes about his encounter with the police.

A source revealed that during the stop, Timberlake commented to the officer, “This is going to ruin the tour,” to which the officer responded, “What tour?” Timberlake replied, “The world tour.”

Timberlake’s massive “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” began in April and is scheduled to run through the end of the year.
