CS Namwamba forced to leave stage during Fred Omondi’s memorial as audience chants anti-government slogans

Popular comedian and radio host Daniel Ndambuki, widely known as Churchill, found himself in the midst of a tense situation on Friday night, June 21, during the memorial service of comedian Fred Omondi.

The event, held at Carnivore grounds, took an unexpected turn when a segment of the audience began chanting anti-government slogans, particularly targeting Sports and Entertainment Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

The disruption occurred when Namwamba attempted to address the congregation.

Members of the audience started chanting slogans like “Ruto must go” and moved to prevent the Cabinet Secretary from speaking. Despite Namwamba’s efforts to calm the situation, the protestors remained adamant, escalating the tension.

Recognizing the need to restore order, event host Churchill Ndambuki swiftly intervened to address the disruption.

However, his attempts to calm the protestors proved unsuccessful, leading Churchill to temporarily halt the event. In response, Namwamba relinquished the microphone to Churchill and departed from the scene with his security team.

The memorial service, named Last Laugh, had gathered several comedians who came together to bid farewell to their colleague Fred Omondi, who tragically passed away in a road accident along the Kangundo highway in Nairobi.

In a similar incident elsewhere on the same day, residents of Bondo in Siaya County took to the offices of MP Gideon Ochanda following his vote in favor of the Finance Bill.

The enraged residents marched to Ochanda’s office carrying a brown coffin with his name inscribed on it, expressing anger over what they perceived as betrayal. They demanded the immediate resignation of the MP, highlighting widespread discontent over the controversial bill.

Similarly, residents of Msambweni in Kwale County also protested on Friday after their MP, Feisal Abdalla, supported the contentious Finance Bill. Armed with twigs and placards, demonstrators attempted to enter Abdalla’s offices but were dispersed by alert police officers.
